"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
Philippians 4:8 (ESV).
Meditation! Let's start this coming month by meditating on God's word. So much to be thankful for. Finding peace with Christ.
Steps to meditation.
Step 1: Find a quiet and comfortable space to sit or lie down without distractions. Ensure that you have enough time to devote to the practice without feeling rushed. Choose a scripture or Biblical theme to focus on.
Step 2: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, allowing your body to relax, muscle by muscle and your mind to settle. Focus on your breath, the sensation of air flowing in and out of your nostrils.
Step 3: As you continue to breathe, pay attention to the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that arise in your mind and body. Don’t judge or try to change anything; simply acknowledge them and refocus on your scripture.
Step 4: When your mind starts to wander, gently bring your attention back to your breath, using it as an anchor to the present moment. This process of repeatedly returning your focus builds concentration and awareness. As your focus grows take note (but not think) of the images and sensations.
Step 6: Try to maintain this calm peacefully in for several minutes to start. Don't focus on the length the time but the quality of your meditation. Be consistent and the length of time and quality will improve.
